The first thing that I noticed when I began reading Cheryle's book was that it was easy to read. It was clear about her experiences with her family and what God has shown her throughout her ministry. This book describes how we are to handle situations along with the mistakes, trials and joys of everyday life. How God's love for us is forever no matter how we handle everyday situations. It is a good guidebook to refer for everyday things along with the bible. I really enjoyed reading it.
Cheryle Touchton has divided her book, The Secret to Everything, into five parts preparation, promise, progression, perseverance and parley. Parley offers helps for group study. The five steps of progression are progress to mind matters, to heart helps, to soul soothers, to strength solutions and to neighbor needs. Based on Luke 1027, Cheryle has written a study book that will help especially new Christians get grounded in their life with God. Designed to be used as a group study or with a mentor, The Secret to Everything is organized around areas of loving God and others, including mind, heart, soul, and strength.
Woven into the text, her own story is inspiring, as one who was once bed-ridden with obesity who is now a traveling evangelist, speaker, and media guest, in addition to her writing. Readers will appreciate that she speaks of what she knows and is offering a format that has been helpful for her.
As a psychotherapist, I especially liked her advice about grief "If it's your turn to cry, may I suggest flat-out wailing?"
For some, it will seem too simplistic; though, if you work her advice thoroughly, I'm guessing it's not as simple as it seems.
If you're looking for a blueprint for a new Christian life, I'd recommend giving it a study. But don't be discouraged if the process of sanctification is harder than it sounds from the book. But that's true of almost any book of advice. Personal and spiritual growth is a process.
